1. Clark Atlanta University was formed in 1988 with the consolidation of two historically black colleges, Atlanta University (founded in 1865) and Clark College (founded in 1869).
2. The university is a member of the Atlanta University Center Consortium (AUCC), which is the world’s largest consortium of African American higher education institutions.
3. The university offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs through four colleges: the School of Business Administration, the School of Education and Social Work, the School of Arts and Sciences, and the School of Library and Information Studies.
4. CAU is a research-intensive institution and is designated as a comprehensive doctoral research institution by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
